Overview

SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) allows your organization to manage Juicebox users directly through your identity provider, such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Google Workspace. With SCIM, your IT team can automatically add and remove users, manage their roles, and control who has access to Juicebox, without manually updating team members in the platform. Once SCIM is enabled, your identity provider becomes the source of truth for user access and permissions.

Before you begin

To set up SCIM, your organization must:
  • Be on an eligible Juicebox Business Plan.
  • Have Single Sign-On (SSO) configured and active. SSO enforcement must also be on.
  • Have at least one user who has successfully signed in through SSO.
  • Have an IT administrator with access to your organization’s identity provider.
SCIM requires SSO. If your organization hasn’t configured SSO yet, you’ll need to complete that setup before enabling SCIM.

Directory Sync setup portal

Your Customer Success Manager will send the Directory Sync setup portal link, where you can connect your identity provider.
The setup portal link expires after 30 days. If your IT administrator is a different person, forward the link to them.

Managing users with SCIM

After SCIM is enabled, user management works a little differently.

Adding new users

To add a user, assign them to the Juicebox application through your identity provider. Once provisioned, they can access Juicebox using your organization’s SSO login. SCIM-provisioned users will not receive a separate invitation email from Juicebox.

Updating user roles

To change a user’s role, move them to the appropriate role group in your identity provider. Change the user’s role group only, not the group that assigns the Juicebox application. Roles can no longer be changed directly within Juicebox once SCIM is enforced.

Removing users

To remove a user’s access, deactivate or un-assign them from the Juicebox application in your identity provider. When access is removed:
  • The user is signed out of Juicebox.
  • Their active outreach sequences are paused.
  • Their AI Agents continue running until reassigned by an administrator.
If the user is added back through your identity provider, their existing Juicebox account is restored. Any paused sequences will need to be resumed manually.
If you’re using Okta, suspending a user does not automatically revoke their Juicebox access. You must deactivate the user or un-assign them from the Juicebox application.

Seat limits and billing

When additional licensed users are added through SCIM, Juicebox automatically adjusts your organization’s seat limit as needed. If provisioning new users exceeds your current seat limit, your limit will increase automatically (up to a maximum of 1,000 licensed seats), and the corresponding subscription charges will apply. Organization administrators will receive confirmation of seat limit increases.
Adding licensed users through SCIM may increase your subscription costs. We recommend reviewing your organization’s seat requirements before provisioning large groups of users.

Changing or removing your directory

Do not delete the directory in the setup portal while SCIM is active. Deleting it locks your organization: all users lose access, and running AI Agents and outreach sequences are paused until Juicebox helps you reconnect a new directory. Contact your Customer Success Manager before making changes to the directory.
